Gulf Coast Bank continues support of Hospice of Acadiana

Gulf Coast Bank has been a supporter of Hospice of Acadiana for many years.
Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. remains the only non-profit hospice in our area. They have the longest record of continuous service of any hospice in Louisiana, and since their inception, they have served over 24,000 patients and their families.
Mike Hebert, Gulf Coast Bank Investment Executive, and Hospice of Acadiana Board Member, presented Gulf Coast Bank’s donation to Kacee Thompson, Hospice of Acadiana Foundation Director.

Abbevill Building and Loan’s Hylton, Lege complete Leadership School

Abbeville Building and Loan is proud to announce that VP/Lending Manager Michelle Hylton and CFO Randy Lege successfully completed the 2018 Leadership School, “Growing our Next Generation of Leaders”, a six-month program that included online course work and instructors that led in class sessions focusing on developing leadership skills and enhancing knowledge in various areas of banking.
The program provided by the Louisiana Bankers Association and held in Baton Rouge at The Bankers Center, hosts students from all over the state. The 2018 session marked the 9th year of the program.
The Louisiana Bankers Association is the professional trade association for commercial banks and thrifts in Louisiana. Founded in 1900, the LBA works to provide advocacy, communication, education and other services to its member institutions, and to provide banking information to the public.

Shawn Christopher Holmes

August 17, 1968 ~ July 21, 2018

ABBEVILLE — A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Shawn Christopher Holmes, 49, who died Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Belle Teche Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Deacon Don Bernard will officiate the service. Burial will be held at a later date.
Shawn was an avid toy collector and from an early age also collected antique bottles, stamps and comic books.
Shawn is survived by his mother and step father, Janet and Marty Benoit; father, Russell Holmes; daughters, Brooke LeFort and her husband Zack, and Natalie Holmes; Brooke’s mother, Vanessa Brasseaux; sisters, Kristen Andrepont and her husband Beau, and Joanie Benoit; granddaughter, Eden LeFort; maternal grandmother, Rita Toups; niece, Josephine Andrepont; five uncles and four aunts – who helped show him how to love and laugh.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John F. Toups; paternal grandparents, Mason and Charlie Holmes; step grandparents, Reno and Ethel Benoit; uncle, Keith Holmes; and former wife, Amy J. Zimoski.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until time of service.

Paula Baudoin Moore

ERATH — A Mass of Christian Burial for Paula Baudoin Moore, 93, will be 3:30PM Tuesday July 24, 2018 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Andre Metrejean celebrating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum. Visitation will be in David Funeral Home of Erath Tuesday July 24, 2018 from 9:00AM until service time with recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM.
Paula, a native of Maurice and a resident of the LeBlanc Community, passed away Saturday July 21, 2018 in Maison du Monde Living Center. She had a passion for cooking traditional Cajun food, and she was well known for making handmade baby clothes. While a resident at Maison du Monde, she had the honor of being selected Queen of their Mardi Gras festivities. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and a loving grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Survivors include her two sons, Glenn Moore (Merlene), Bob Moore (Tami) all of Erath, her three daughters, Catherine Dronet (Benny) of Delcambre, Judy Hebert (Kenneth) of Erath, and Connie Moore of Baton Rouge, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and 2 granddogs.
She is preceded in death by her husband Fred Moore, her parents Charles and Isabelle Broussard Baudoin, brothers Elphege “LuLu” (Hilda) Baudoin, Percy (Elarge) Baudoin, a grandson Charles Moore.
Serving as her Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dean Dronet, Kenny Hebert, Jordan Moore, and Jonathon Thompson, Mark Dronet, and her great grandson, Zachary Trangmar.
Serving as her Honorary Pallbearers will be her great grandsons, Andre Romero, Ethen Trangmar, Aakian Moore, Drew Dronet, and Ian Harrington.
Giftbearers will be her granddaughters, Amy Trangmar, and Christie Harrington,and her great granddaughter Caitlyn Harrington, and her son-in- law Benny Dronet will do the readings. A family friend, Andrea Mouton will sing.

Jude Roger completes Eagle Scout project

St. Mary Magdalen Church now has Stations of the Cross located outside of the church

Jude Roger recently completed his Eagle Scout project.
The project consisted of construction and installation of an exterior Stations of the Cross at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
For his project, Jude cleaned the area and removed overgrown vegetation. He constructed the boxes out of cypress with the help of his dad and brother. He then installed the boxes on existing brick pillars in the courtyard between the church and ministries building.
Jude would like to extend a special thanks to DeHart Welding for cutting out the Roman numerals for each station and GIS for painting the numbers.
