ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Helen Adelle Westmoreland LeBlanc, 84, who died Friday, May 19, 2017 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Rev. Gregory Cormier officiating the services.
Helen is survived by her husband, Ted LeBlanc; sons, Darrel D. LeBlanc of Virginia, Donald W. Bolin and his wife, Rachael of Broussard, Raymond P. LeBlanc of Abbeville, and Eddie J. LeBlanc and his wife, Rebecca of Leroy; daughter, Anette A. LeBlanc of Scott; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Westmoreland and the former Irene Vansandt.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 9:00 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM.

Lydia Marie Lege Arnold
March 9, 1942 ~ May 18, 2017
ABBEVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church honoring the life of Lydia Marie Lege Arnold, 75, who died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Vermilion Health Care Center. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Rev. Gregory Cormier officiating the services.
Lydia is survived by her children, Esther A. Mayeaux and her husband, Luke, Catherine A. Baker and her husband, Steve, and Frank “Troy” Arnold, Jr. and his wife, Jodi; siblings, Clarence “Pete” Lege and his wife Barbara, Natalia “Pupie” Hebert and her husband, Jim, Mae Hebert and her husband, Hayward, and George Lege and his wife, Brenda; her roommate at Vermilion Health Care Center, Thelma Trahan; grandchildren, Seth A. LeBlanc and his wife, Tiffany, Simone A. Peltier and her husband, Brody, Trisha K. Mayeaux, Steven Baker, Joshua N. Baker and his wife, Chastine, Jakob N. Baker and his wife, Courtney, Stefaney L. Baker, Karsen A. Hebert and her husband, Adrian, Frank Troy Arnold, III and his wife, Elizabeth, and Zachary E. Arnold; special friends, Robert Hernandez and Sarah Owens; great grandchildren, Bryce Comeaux and his wife, Fernanda, Carlee and Andrew Leblanc, Rylan, Rhett, Noah and Elijah Peltier, Juliaunna, Amelia and Ilenia Baker, Chelsey, Chloe and Jayton Baker, Annabeth, Lily and Rosalie Hebert, and expecting to arrive in June – Frank Troy Arnold, IV.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Troy Arnold, Sr., parents, Esther Joseph and Rena S. Lege; siblings, Roland P. Lege, Virginia L. Herring, Esta J. Lege and Raymond J. Lege; and in laws, Homer W. and Allie R. Arnold.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Monday, May 22, 2017 from 8:00 AM until 11:45 AM when the procession will depart for the church.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Vermilion Health Care Center, Hospice of Acadiana, and NSI Hospice; all of you provided comfort and happiness to our mother.

Robert P. “Bob” Patterson
MAURICE – Funeral Services for Robert P. “Bob” Patterson, 57, will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at David Funeral Home Chapel of Abbeville. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 9:30AM until the time of the services with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM.
A Native of San Diego, CA and a resident of Maurice, Mr. Patterson died on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at his residence. He was employed with Omega Protein for over 10 Years. Mr. Bob was known for his love for being on the water; Fishing; and watching football.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Mariela Martinez Patterson of Maurice; his father, Robert S. Patterson of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Patterson and Patricia Ann Myers; and a brother, Denny Blad.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Dias Patterson.

Leatha Mae Higgenbotham Guillory
Leatha Mae Higgenbotham Guillory, 82, a resident of Abbeville, LA and native of Lake Arthur, LA, passed away on Sunday May 14, 2017 at 1:58 PM at her residence.
A viewing will be held on Friday May 19, 2017 at the Jones Funeral Home 1101 Main Street Franklin, LA from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Visitation will be observed on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Faith Hope Christian Fellowship Church 405 Duroq Street Abbeville, LA, from 8:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM. Bishop B. K. Stevens will officiate the services. Burial will follow funeral services in the St. Paul Cemetery in Abbeville, LA.
Memories of Leatha will forever remain in the hearts of her two sons, Steven T. (Christine) Guillory, Sr. of Verdunville, LA and Edward Guillory, Jr. of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Rose Marie (Martin) Clark of Fort Worth, TX; two brothers, R. J. Maczel of Lake Arthur, LA and Richard Higgenbotham of Jennings, LA; two sisters, Velma Johnson of Detroit, MI and Dorothy Smith of Lake Charles, LA; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Leatha was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Guillory, Sr.; her parents, Eddie Sr. and Viola Higgenbotham; two sisters, Fannie Bush and V Higgnenbotham and two brothers, Herman Higgenbotham and Eddie Higgenbotham, Jr.

ABBEVILLE — A Home-going Celebration will be held for Arnold Paul “Lex” Brown 48, at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Saint Mary Congregational Church with Rev. Kevin M.A. Williams, officiating.
He will await the resurrection at Saint Mary Congregational Church Cemetery in Gros Isle.

Paula Ann Vallot

A native and resident of Abbeville, Ms. Vallot died at 12:55AM on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Lafayette General Regional Medical Center. Paula was known for her enjoyment to write and read poetry; and drawing. She especially enjoyed social gatherings with her family and friends.
She is survived by her parents, Alvin and Virgis St. Julien Vallot of Abbeville; two sisters, Iris Lastrapes and her husband Brooke of Abbeville and Latrelle Vallot of Abbeville; three nephews, Braxton Bourque, Brooke Lastrapes,II, and Cane Lastrapes; a niece, Nila Lastrapes; and her beloved pet, Arie.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Deidre Vallot.
Serving as pallbearers will be Carlos Broussard, Andre’ Broussard, Ricardo Vallot, Paul Christy, Reginald Christy, and Austin Vallot.
Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Brooke Lastrapes, Braxton Bourque, Monte Vallot, William D. Vallot, Jr., Warren Broussard, Kevin Labbe, Jonathan Vallot, and Glenn Vallot.

Leonard Royce Hollier
Leonard Royce Hollier, age 77, passed away at home on May 6, 2017. Royce graduated from Mount Carmel in Abbeville and USL in Lafayette. Immediately upon graduating from USL he joined the Navy for two years. He then moved to New Orleans and began his career in the petroleum industry. In New Orleans he met his future wife Patty, married in 1966 and became the father of two sons, Barrett and Jason.
His career in the petroleum industry relocated Royce and his family overseas for 17 years. They lived in Scotland, Egypt, Iran, Dubai, Greece and Singapore. The family returned to the United States in 1988. In 1995 they opened La Boucherie, a specialty USDA food manufacturing facility, located in Houston.
Royce was an avid golfer and a member of The Woodlands Country Club. He was an excellent chef and loved cooking for family and friends. His was truly "A Life Well Lived."
Royce was preceded in death by his father, Leonard, his mother, Dorothy and his sister, Patricia McNeill. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patty, his sons Barrett and wife Xuesong, Jason and wife Kimberly and his grandson Samuel Luke.
A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Abbeville, Louisiana on May 20, 2017 at 1:00 PM.

Nathan Zenon Jr.
After five years, Vermilion Task Force arrest Nathan Zenon Jr.
The search to locate Nathan Zenon Jr. is finally over.
After five years, Zenon has managed to elude law enforcement in Vermilion Parish.
The Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force located Zenon in Vermilion Parish.
Zenon, 34, was wanted for felony warrants including Felony Aggravated Flight, multiple narcotics offenses, probation offenses and several failure to appear warrants.
Upon being taken into custody, Zenon was found to be in possession of $20,350 of suspected drug money.
A further investigation, led agents to recover suspected marijuana, suspected Promethazine, items consistent with narcotics distribution, as well as, a firearm.
Zenon was charged with his active warrants as well as Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (Marijuana), Possession of Schedule I, (Marijuana 2nd offense), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Legend Drug, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Transactions Involving Drug Proceeds.
His total bond for all of the charges is $107,500. Zenon is still in prison as of Thursday.
Sheriff Couvillon would like to thank the Vermilion Parish mayors, and their council, of Abbeville, Kaplan, Gueydan, Maurice and Erath, along with their chiefs of police, for their support of the Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force.

Matthew Fontenot had a .379 bating average in district for VC.
Vermilion Catholic Eagles land two players on All-District first team
The eventual Division IV state champions landed four on the District 7A All-District baseball team, while Vermilion Catholic had two players.
Jeffery Elkins of Ascension Episcopal, a senior outfielder, was voted the MVP of the district by the coaches.
Elkins hit for a .738 average. He knocked in 29 runs and four home runs in district. Tyler Jensen, the head coach of AES, was named coach of the year.
For VC, Harrison Vicknair, a senior, was voted all-district first team pitcher. Vicknair was 3-1 in district with an earned run average of .0.99. He had 31 strike outs.
Joining him on the first team is teammate Matt Fontenot as a utility player. In district, he hit for a .379 average, scored 11 runs and knocked in eight runs.
On the second team, the VC Eagles landed two players.
Twin brother Griffin Vicknair landed on second team at third base,
Gage Trahan, who played short stop and pitched, is on the second team as a utility player.
Making the honorable mention all-district team for VC are Cade Boudreaux, Hunter Bertrand and Ethan Lege.
Gueydan High did not have any players on the first or second team.
