Anne Catherine LeBlanc and Bennett Joseph LaMotte were united in the sacrament of holy matrimony at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre.
Reverend John (Buddy) Breaux served as the main celebrant of the nuptial Mass. Con-celebrants included Reverend Herb Bennerfield, Reverend Keenan Brown, and Reverend Andre Metrejean. Deacon Russell Hayes assisted in the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven LeBlanc of Abbeville. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rusty LaMotte of Duson.
The bride, escorted by her father, wore a romantic fully laced wedding gown featuring a high neckline and a figure accenting fit-n-flare silhouette. The unique button enclosed illusion back added a sense of beauty and enchantment. The gown also included a beautiful semi-cathedral length train. The bride was adorned with a cathedral length veil, her mother’s pearl earrings, and a bouquet of blush tea roses, ivory garden roses, burgundy peonies, velvety lamb’s ear, stem-wrapped with antique European lace accented with crystals.
Victoria LeBlanc Richard, sister of the bride, served as the matron of honor and Emma Noel, friend of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Lindsey Malagarie LeBlanc, sister-in-law of the bride; Maria LaMotte, Victoria LaMotte and Julia LaMotte Scarborough, sisters of the groom; and Paige Patout and Alyse Spieler, friends of the bride. Serving as flower girl was Regina Scarborough, godchild of the groom.
Each of the bridesmaids wore floor length dresses in the color of midnight blue, with each style being unique to the bridesmaid. Their bouquets featured burgundy succulents, surrounded by white Akito roses, and burgundy peonies, and accented with velvety lamb’s ear and burgundy ribbon. The flower girl wore a creme dress featuring lace over underlay and accented with a satin sash and flower. She carried a kissing ball consisting of black creek hops accented with burgundy hydrangea blooms and burgundy ribbon and wore a headband handcrafted by her mother.
Thomas LaMotte and Charles LaMotte, brothers of the groom, both served as best men. Serving as groomsmen were Gregory LaMotte, brother of the groom; Alexander LeBlanc and Nicholas LeBlanc, brothers of the bride; Ross Scarborough, brother-in-law of the groom; Seth Richard, brother-in-law of the bride, and John Paul Billeaud and George Holland, friends of the groom.
Ushers included Blake Bertrand, Kyle Price, and Jon Trahan, all friends of the couple.
The groom, groomsmen, and ushers wore navy Ike Behar tuxedos with ivory shirts, champagne ties, and brown tuxedo shoes.
The bellringers who announced the entrance of the bride were Carter Richard, godchild of the bride, and Oliver and Tucker Richard, both nephews of the bride. The boys’ attire included navy pants, suspenders, and bow ties. All of the gentlemen wore boutonnieres of green succulents, burgundy hydrangea blooms, and velvety lamb’s ear, stem-wrapped in natural bindwire.
For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Manique LeBlanc wore a floor length gown which featured embroidered ribbon rosette roses and sequined lace in the color of champagne. Mrs. Julie LaMotte, mother of the groom, chose an elegant navy formal of sequined lace which featured a bell sleeve jacket. Both mothers wore wristlets made of burgundy succulents surrounded by burgundy hydrangea blooms, white sheer ribbon, and antique European lace accented with crystals.
The father of the bride and groom chose formal wear to compliment the evening wear of their wives.
Musicians for the wedding included Julia Boudreaux, pianist; Lauren Baker, violinist; Emma Guidry, cellist; Neil Simon, trumpeter; and vocalists Robert Comeaux (director); Natial D’Augereau; Lindsay LeBlanc; Nicholas LeBlanc; Johnny Luquette; and Bridget Touchet.
Offertory gift bearers were Millie Butaud and Mr. and Mrs. Joey Reaux. Sue Ann Butaud and Patricia McLeod served as lectors.
Program attendants included Midori Mickel, Shelby Pelafigue, and Lauren Roberts. Special guests included Mr. and Mrs. Arthur LaMotte and Mrs. Myrtis LeBlanc.
A wedding reception was held at L ‘Eglise with music provided by Austin Gaspard. After a wedding cruise, the couple will reside in Lafayette.

ABBEVILLE — Funeral Services for Joseph Ricky Trahan, 59, were held at 4:00PM on Saturday November 17, 2018 at David Funeral Home of Abbeville with Deacon Francis Kao officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
Visitation was held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Saturday November 17, 2018 from 9:00AM until service time.
Ricky, a resident of Abbeville, passed away Thursday November 15, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Sellers Trahan, five children, Nichole Standridge and her husband Eric Jr., Kimberly Trahan and her fiancé Justin Hiles, Ricky Trahan and his wife Ella, Colby Trahan and his fiancée Angel Meche, Brett Trahan and his friend Claudia Benoit, four grandchildren and one due in January, Emma and Eric Standridge III, Brock and Allie Trahan, five brothers, Jimmy Trahan, Riley Trahan, Roger Trahan, Michael Trahan and Mack Trahan and his wife Sendie, and a brother in law Curtis Robicheaux, three sisters in law, Barbara Sellers, Sandra Faulk and her husband Keith, and Angie Sagrera and her husband Brandon, two brothers in law, Carl Sellers, and Keith Sellers and his wife Tina, and his mother in law Myrlene Sellers, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Elodie Frederick Trahan, two brothers, Wilbur Trahan, and Steve Trahan and his wife Ann, two sisters, Judy Robicheaux, and Patsy Roche and her husband Harris, sister in law Dorothy Trahan, and father in law Roger Sellers.

The Louisiana State Supreme Court’s Office of Disciplinary Counsel suspended Kaplan City Judge Stanton Hardee III from practicing law for a year and a day after he pleaded no contest to multiple misdemeanors arising from alcohol-related, offensive conduct, in violation of Rules 8.4(a) and 8.4(b) of the Rules of Professional Conduct.
The ruling was released on Wednesday by the Supreme Court of Louisiana. In the decision, it also stated that all but six months of the suspension be deferred. Following the active portion of the suspension, respondent shall be subject to a period of probation to coincide with the remaining term of his monitoring agreement with the Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program, the disciplinary counsel wrote
The Meridional contacted Hardee on Thursday asking why he was suspended. He issued a statement Friday explaining what happened and to say he is sorry for his actions.
Hardee wrote: “To all the people in the City of Kaplan and Vermilion Parish, I want to sincerely apologize and say I am sorry for my behavior on January 15, 2017. On that day, I was on my bachelor party out of state with some of my Army buddies. I got extremely intoxicated that night, was arrested at a bar, and charged with several misdemeanors for being extremely intoxicated and grabbing a waitress on the buttocks, for failing to produce identification, and for refusing to get into the police vehicle. I pleaded no contest to those misdemeanors, paid my fines and completed the probation period.”
His suspension began this past Wednesday. He will not be able to practice law and sit as a judge for six months. The State Supreme Court will appoint his replacement judge.
When he does return in six months, he will be on probation until 2022.
“I am sorry and remorseful for the embarrassment that my actions have brought upon my family, my constituents, my employees and the legal profession. It is a very hard lesson to learn. I humbly ask for your forgiveness,” said Hardee.

DELCAMBRE — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Sylvester George 69, at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Saint Martin De Porres Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux, officiating.
Entombment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 8 a.m.. Saturday at the church until time of service with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m.
A native and resident of Delcambre, LA. He passed at 5:00 P.M. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at his residence.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his former wife, Lucille Taylor of New Iberia, LA; one daughter, Tamika George of New Iberia, LA; three sisters, Judy Goudeau and Lucille Ford of Houston, TX and Verna Jones of Delcambre, LA; one brother, Richard George (Ada) of Coteau, LA; one grandchild, Peja Gregory of New Iberia, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge George and Helen Reaux George; four brothers, Benjamin George, Anthony George, Sr., James Clayton George, and Clement George, Sr.; one sister, Rose G. Doucette; one grandson, Courtney Wilson, Jr.; father and mother-in-law, Lloyd Taylor and Lorena Taylor.
Active Pallbearers will be Brent Raymond, Craig Landry, Dexter George, Kendrick Parker, Elrick Parker, and Gary Briscoe.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard George, Frank Taylor, Calvin Doucette, Anthony Mitchell, Roy Chambers, Orien Trahan, Joe Nezey, Jr., Ronald Allen, Curley Reaux, Jr., Billy Comeaux, Andrew Reaux, and Clyde Landry.
